From September 24 to October 2, 2022, I'll be trekking through Peru to Machu Picchu to raise funds for Cuso International.
Over the course of 9 days, I will take the trail less traveled, visiting Cuso projects, and exploring the world of the Incas, while supporting Cuso's mission to reduce poverty and inequality in the Andean region.
Since 2001 I have worked for an organization that has helped me gain incredible skills and a sustainable income to live a privileged life in one of the best countries in the world. But not every woman and girl is so lucky.
There is a hunger crisis in rural Lima. To address this, Cuso is working with local organizations to strengthen the community kitchen food system, build capacity and opportunities for women farmers, strengthen the organization of the kitchens, and support knowledge sharing, advocacy, and participation in decision making. This work empowers women and girls to gain the skills they need for lasting employment and it strengthens the Andean way of life.
As part of my journey, I am fundraising $3,000 to help sustain Cuso’s vital work. Please consider making a gift today in support of this campaign.
For every $1 you donate the Canadian Government will provide $6. That means a $25 contribution becomes $175 and a $100 gift becomes $700! A tax receipt will be issued for donations of $10 or more.
My fellow trekker, Mark, a tax accountant who has raised over $10K for Cuso, reminded me that most charitable donations provide a 45% tax credit when you file your tax return, therefore a $100 donation becomes $700 for CUSO, and only costs you $55!
With the help of donors like you and me, we can support women living in poverty so they can provide for their families and their communities.
Thank you in advance for your very kind support,
Sincerely,
Anna Thornton
