Am I crazy? I spent a week hiking in the backcountry of the Canadian Rockies this summer, so now I think I can hike in the Andes?
Yup! I do! But I need your help!
Hiking to the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu is one of those bucket list things that has been in the back of my mind for years. The Cuso Challenge is the perfect opportunity for me to fulfill that dream and to do so in a meaningful way. In March 2020 I'll be trekking through Peru to Machu Picchu and raising funds for Cuso International in the process.
Cuso International has been on my radar since I was a teenager. They send hundreds of volunteers with professional skills to work with local partners around the world with the aim of empowering women and girls and improving economic outcomes for youth. I always thought I'd be a volunteer; maybe I still will be one day!
The Challenge is both physical and philanthropic. In acceptig the challenge, I have committed to raising $4000 to help sustain Cuso’s work. Over the coming months, I will be training diligently for the physical challenge, and I hope you will consider making a donation in support of my fundraising challenge. For every $1 you donate the Canadian Government will provide $9. That means a $50 contribution becomes $500 and a $100 donation becomes $1000!
For making a donation, I will send you a link to my travel blog, which I will be keeping updated as much as is possible. And, as a thank you, you will also receive an invivtation to a post-challenge gathering to enjoy Peruvian cuisine and a brief presentation on my adventure.
Thank you in advance for your generous support.
Tip: Increase your charitable donations tax credit for both 2019 AND 2020 - donate twice! A tax receipt will be issued for all donations of $10.00 or more. Donations received before December 31, 2019 will be receipted for the 2019 tax year. Donations received after January 1 will be receipted for 2020!

Since 1961, Cuso International has been working to reduce poverty and inequality through the efforts of volunteers, partners, and donors. Each year Cuso International mobilizes hundreds of professionals who volunteer side-by-side with local partners to create positive and lasting change.
