You know that one of my favorite things to do is HIKE! Well, I'm VERY excited to share with you my upcoming fundraising trip to Peru! This epic hike combines my love for adventure and hiking but most importantly, philanthropy!
From September 24th to October 2nd, 2022, I'll be participating in a Cuso challenge with Cuso International in efforts to raise funds to help reduce poverty and inequality in Peru, especially in women. Did you know that Peru has high rates of sexual, physical, and domestic violence against women?
By joining the Cuso Challenge, I have committed to self-fund my journey to Peru & fundraise a minimum of $5,000.00 for this important organization and ALL funds will be committed to the SHARE program:
"Through SHARE, we are supporting hundreds of women’s organizations across two continents, to help them respond to gender-based violence and environmental threats. Cuso’s support also includes legal analysis, English language learning, research and writing so women’s rights groups can effectively engage in advocacy work with policy makers. Where women previously were afraid to protest for their rights they now “dare to talk and speak out” to local authorities."
During our 9-day excursion, we'll take the trail less travelled and hike between 4 and 8 hours per day and explore the world of the Incas, slowly acclimatizing to the altitude of 11,400 ft in Cusco and make our way to the majestic ruins of Machu Picchu. I’m very excited as we will also be visiting a site of a Cuso International partner and their project.
I'm thrilled to finally visit this beautiful country which has been on my Bucket List and am hoping to reach my goals; both my fundraising goal and my challenge (physical) goal.
The best thing about your donation is that for every $1 you donate the Global Affairs Canada will provide $6. That means your $50 donation becomes $350 and your $100 donation becomes $700 and all donations of $10 or more will receive a tax receipt. Your support is crucial in my efforts to empower women. To help me reach my goal, simply click on the link above. All donations are immensely appreciated!
With the deepest of gratitude,
Lynn
