Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!
As you may know, I will be living in Yangon, Myanmar for 1 year while volunteering with the Women's League of Burma to help protect and stregthen the rights of women of ethnic minorities. My plan is to help advocate for gender equality and increased women's participation in politics, decision-making and all areas of civil society in Myanmar.
Every woman has the right to voice her opinion, to be heard, to seek refuge in the face of injustice and to be free from discrimination and violence. Those who were born into impossible social constraints are worthy of hope and the chance to realize their dreams.
This opportunity is being made possible by Cuso International, a development organization that works to reduce poverty and inequality through the efforts of highly skilled volunteers, collaborative partnerships and compassionate donors.
Before I begin this journey, I need your help. I'm fundraising $2,000 for Cuso International to help make this happen. Join me in this journey by donating to Cuso International at the link below. No amount is too small. In fact, for every $1 donated to Cuso International, Global Affairs Canada matches it with $9. Your contribution, no matter the size, will have an immense ripple effect.
All donations of $10 or more will be issued a Canadian tax receipt.
For USD donations and US tax receipts, make your donations here: http://cuso2.convio.net/site/Donation2?df_id=1481&mfc_pref=T&1481
To really get a run for your money, I'll bring back (or ship you) from Myanmar authentic souvenirs as follows:
- For donations of $10 to $100 = Locally crafted gift from Myanmar
- For donations of $101 to $500 = Authentic piece of clothing from Myanmar
- For donations of $501 to $1,000 = Something shiny from Myanmar ;)
