Bonjour chers amis! Hello family and friends!
Welcome to my fundraising page. As you know, on May 10th I will be leaving for Yaounde, Cameroon to complete a 6-month volunteer placement with Cuso International, where I have been either working or volunteering since 2010. Cuso is allowing me to take a 6-month unpaid leave of absence to fulfil this dream of mine.
What is Cuso International?
... An international development organization that works to reduce poverty and inequality through the efforts of highly skilled volunteers, placed with local, grassroots organizations in roughly 20 developing countries around the world.
What will I be doing?
... Working as a Program Support Officer in the Cuso International office, and my role will involve:
Why is this important to me?
... Because I have been very blessed to have been born in Canada and lived a life of privilege. Through my work and the global media, I am very aware that this is not the case for much of our world. My upbringing, my faith and personal values mean that I would like to make a small contribution to Cuso International's work by walking alongside Cameroonians, offering my skills and gaining a deeper understanding of the realities they face. I am quite confident that I will gain far more from the experience than I will be able to give! I would also like to offer this rich opportunity to my children, who, together with Matt, will join me over the summer.
How can you help?
... By making a contribution in support of my campaign to raise funds for Cuso International. Here are a few fun facts:
Any donation, big or small is sincerely appreciated. Together we can give hope and change lives!
One last word ...
I'd like to say a heart-felt thank you to everyone who has taken the time to support me in this adventure. I appreciate your visits to my page, your kind words, generous donations, ongoing prayers, and helping hands!
All my love,
Geralyn
