I have been selected as a Cuso International volunteer, and in February will be moving to Malawi! I'll be there for one year working as an organizational development advisor supporting the Civil Society Organization Nutritional Alliance (CSONA). The mandate of CSONA is to organize, coordinate, and share best practices among 100+ civil society organizations throughout the country as they implement national nutrition interventions.
What I'll be doing
My role while I'm with CSONA will primarily be to help strengthen the coordinating committees so that they can provide supervision, outreach, and project management of nutritional interventions in local communities throughout Malawi. I'll also assist with communications to coordinate and collaborate with the different stakeholders involved. It's an amazing opportunity to be part of a project that's expected to contribute directly to the improved health of approximately 250,000 women, children and men, and to a further 400,000 individuals indirectly.
Why am I so passionate about Cuso International?
Cuso International is a development organization that works to reduce poverty and inequality through the efforts of highly skilled volunteers, collaborative partnerships, and compassionate donors. The focus for volunteers is on building capacity and capability within the partner organizations with which we're paired, recognizing that it is the work of those partner organizations that will have the most benefit for their communities.
Through my recruitment and training these past few months, I have been consistently impressed by the other volunteers I've met, the quality of support and training we've received, and the amazing work being done by Cuso International volunteers and the partner organizations they're working with around the world.
How you can help
Because I want to help Cuso International continue to make a difference around the world, I am fundraising $3,000 to help sustain their vital work and enable them to continue to mobilize other volunteers like myself. Please consider making a gift today in support of my campaign. Right now, for every $1 you donate the Canadian Government will provide $9. That means a $25 contribution becomes $250 and a $100 gift becomes $1,000!
Your donation is sincerely appreciated by me, Cuso International staff and volunteers, and the many, many people around the world who benefit from this work.
