Hello everyone!
Thanks for finding your way to my fundraising page, it really means alot to me that you're here!
For those of you who know me well, you'll be unsurprised to hear that I'm off on another adventure at the end of the summer. This time to Nigeria to work with a local women's empowerment organization.
Before I decided to work abroad again, I made sure to do my research and find a cause and an organization that I really believed in and resonated with. Through Cuso International I learned about Girls Power Initiative, a feminist organization working diligently to improve the lives of women and girls in Nigeria. I'll be joining them for at least 7 months as a communications advisor, helping to spread their message of equality as far as possible.
I like to think of myself as a storyteller but this time around, I'm not going with the purpose of telling stories. My goal is to help empower the women and girls of Nigeria to tell their own stories in an impactful way. For a few years now I've been working in the communications and journalism industry all over the country and all over the world. I've had a ton of fun, learned alot and met some incredible people but always in the back of my mind was the thought that I'm not doing enough to further the cause I believe in the most: women's empowerment and liberation. That's why this particular mandate is so important to me. It brings together my skillset and my passion and I hope that I'm truly able to aid in uplifting the women in Nigeria who are already doing fantastic feminist work in the country.
But guess what... I kind of need your help to do that!
Cuso International graciously covers all the costs of getting me to and keeping me in Nigeria but I'm aiming to raise $2000 over the course of my mandate and with your help, I think I can do it. The money we raise together will help Cuso International to sustain their development programming that aims to reduce poverty and inequality in 20 developing countries around the world.
And good news - for every dollar $1 that you donate, the Canadian Government will add $9. That means that a $25 donation (your Starbucks budget for the week) instantly becomes $250. A donation fo a $100 will see $1000 in program funding go to an organization really trying to do some good.
I understand that for some of you, making a donation may seem intangible but I'm here to say that every little bit helps me reach my goal and puts some good karma out into the universe for you! Plus, for donations of $50 or more, I'll send you a postcard from Nigeria and for donations of $100 or more I'll bring you back a gift. And for donations of any size, I'll send you all my love, good vibes and positive energy.
For those of you who have followed me on my past journeys around the wrold, you'll remember that I keep a video and written blog on my website paigeellenmueller.com. I'll be doing the same this year and as an added bonus, everyone who donates can request a blog or video on a specific topic and I'll do my best to make it happen. Whatever you're curious about and want to know, I'll write about it just for you!
Together, we can really do some good in this world, stand up for what's right and learn some things along the way. I can't wait to share my journey with you and please don't hesitate to contact me at paigeellenmueller@gmail.com if you have any more questions about where I'm going, why I'm going there or how you can help. I'd love yo hear from you all.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart!
Peace & Love,
Paige
