Compassion, patience and support - the role of midwives
In a community of 3,800 households, Mekdes Gizaw plays an important role as a health care provider and educator at Misra Health Center in Bale Zone of Oromia, Ethiopia. As a trained midwife, Mekdes cares for approximately 700 expectant mothers annually.

Coffee - a giver of life
Erika and Bayron Peña grew up on their family’s coffee farm in Corquín, Copán in Western Honduras. Their parents, Evelio and Valentina were forced to relocate their coffee finca (farm) in 2012 because of disease and bad weather that jeopardized their crops.

Cuso volunteers are improving knowledge and outcomes for farmers like the Peña’s.
